This activity allows users to observe the relationship between phase change and kinetic/potential energies. Users have an opportunity to heat and cool helium, and observe the exchange of energies.
Students will understand:
the role of van der Waals attractions;
the connection between temperature change and condensation;
and will begin to consider latent heat.
