Module 13: Gradient & Barriers: Active

Overview

Various modeling activities of this module introduce students to the basics of membrane potential, the working of ionic pumps and the foundation of the nerve impulse generation and propagation, as well as active transport of ions and nutrients. Students make connection between these molecular dynamic models and familiar macroscopic topics in plants and animal physiology, such as the working of tree roots or animal kidneys.
